Skatetown TX is all about family, fun, and roller-skating! We want every skater to feel like part of the family when they come to our Vidor family entertainment center. Get to know our staff with this week’s Skatetown TX employee spotlight.
Tell us about yourself. I am Courtney Jacob, I am 29, and I am the Owner and Operations Manager at Skatetown TX.
What made you interested in working for Skatetown TX? I am a third generation rink owner. I grew up in this skating rink back when it was Skating Palace.
What’s your favorite part about working for Skatetown TX? Growing relationships with the communities children and families. I love seeing the fun skating brings to them, and I love that they are creating memories they will cherish for a lifetime at my place. Just like I have of the place growing up.
What are some of the things you’ve taken away from working at a skating center? Valuable life lessons, and lots of learning curves. Patience, kindness, and that putting a smile on at least one person’s face each day is the best thing you can do!
Talk about one of your favorite memories, or something funny that happened to you while working at Skatetown TX. I let the kids pie me one year at the lock-in, and they got it everywhere! I smelled like rotten milk for the rest of the night! But the kids LOVED it!
What are your hobbies outside of roller-skating? I love horses. We have 3 of them. We used to ride often when we had time. We have 3 kids who all love to skate and spend most of their time up at the rink with me and my husband Josh.
Name three fun facts nobody knows about you. I also like to read, and I am a researcher! I love politics and learning something new everyday!
Come meet Courtney and the rest of the crew at our weekly skating sessions.
